!%! Chapter Two !%!
Sleep was feeling so good that I didn’t even want to wake up. Soon as I went to turn over, I heard my cell phone going off from downstairs. I continued on sleeping until my house phone rung. I tried to ignore that too but it just kept ringing.
“Hello.” I spoke angrily.
“This is not no fairytale and you‘re not Sleeping Beauty so wake that ass up!” Tiffany said while yelling.
“Tiff.” I said whining.
“It’s busy as hell in the restaurant and you’re nowhere to be found.”
“OMG!! work!” I said as I popped up from out of bed.
“Yeah work.”
“I know Aunt Lily is cursing my ass out.” I said while struggling to find a pair of sweatpants. “Every since I’ve been doing this music thing, I’ve been neglecting the job.”
“Girl you know I covered for you.”
“I know but I can’t keep letting you do this and it just shows irresponsibility on my part.”
“Don’t sweat it, just get over here.”
“Alright but what’s the cover story?”
“Your car broke down and you needed a jump.”
“I so owe you Tiff.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah.” she said as she hung up.
As soon as I hung up the phone I ran into the bathroom to do a quick wash up and came back into my room and threw on some sweatpants and a black shirt. I pulled my hair back into a ponytail as I slid into my black Timberland boots. I grabbed my keys from off of the coffee table to my black 2002 Honda Civic and rushed out the door and into my car speeding to Lily’s. Soon as I got there, I immediately went in the back to change into my uniform and switch shoes. I came back out and saw Tiffany hanging out by the counter.
“When you went to wash my uniform did you switch it with yours?” I asked.
“Nah, I had dried them instead of letting them air dry.” Tiffany said laughing. “But at least they show off our figure.”
“That‘s not the reason why I wear this uniform.”
“Whatever, but you have Table Five to attend to.”
I looked over at Table Five and saw a group of rowdy guys.
“Just great. Feed me to the wolves.” I said while walking over to the table. “Welcome to Lily’s. My name is Jay and I’ll be your waitress. Can I start you all off with something to drink?” I said with a smile on my face.
“Umm. Umm. Umm.” said a dark skin guy with mini twisties in his hair. “Someone call the cops.”
“Why?” I asked not knowing what he was talking about.
“Because you need to be locked up.” he said while his little friends started laughing.
“Locked up?” I said as I put my hands on my waist.
“Yea, locked up for looking fine as hell.” he said smiling as his homeys gave him dap.
“Cute, real cute.” I said while laughing. “I believe we were on drinks.” I added while getting my notepad and pencil out.
“Yea.” said a brown skin guy with dreads and a gold tooth.
“Ok what will you be having?”
“A phonebook.” he responded.
“What you trying to look up?” I asked.
“Your number.” he said as his homeys dapped him.
I threw my hands up and started laughing. Tiffany walked over to the table.
“Everything cool over here Jay?” she asked.
“They using some old whack pick up lines that you usually fall for.” I said while smiling.
“Ooh.” is all the guys said.
“It’s alright guys, she just mad because she don’t get picked up anymore.” Tiffany said.
“Ooh.” the guys said again.
“Ok no more dissing my best friend start ordering.” she added.
“Or you will be eating those dry pick up lines.” I said with a smirk.
For the remainder of the night, people just kept pouring in. We told Aunt Lily that we’ll close up the restaurant that night and clean off the tables and re-stock some stuff.
“Girl we was type busy tonight.” Tiffany said as she switched into her regular clothes.
“But the tips was wonderful.” I said putting my Timberlands back on.
“You would of thought that we was giving away free meals today.”
“Well it is about to be the weekend and you know the restuarant be popping on the weekends.”
“Good thing we don’t work weekends.”
“True.” I said while closing my locker.
We walked off to the front of the restaurant and set the alarm and locked the door behind us. A black stretch limo turned on the same corner as the restaurant is on and rode passed us.
“I wonder who’s in the limo.” I said.
“Probably somebody with money who can just be chauffeured around with nothing to do.” Tiffany answered.
“Well when I make it, we going to be riding around just like that.” I said as I watched the limo ride into the night.
“Hell yea.” Tiffany said. “So you want to go out tonight?”
“When do I turn down going to the clubs? But I do want to hit the gym early in the morning” I said while walking to the parking lot.
“For what?”
“To work out obviously.”
“I can’t be up that early so I just come later in the afternoon or not at all.”
“Lazy ass.”
“Just be ready in and hour and a half. I’m picking you up.” Tiffany said as she got into her car and drove off.
I got in my car and drove off in the opposite way.
