I sat in the studio as the pen ran smoothly across the paper. As the words flowed perfectly I thought about my life with in the last 6 months, a lot of the things about me have changed and it was all because of her. She brought out a different side of me. “…I use to think of you in particular…” That lyric fit so perfectly because when I’m not with her, I’m thinking about her. “…I want love with the option to breathe…” and that she gives me. “…I want a hug to make me stay when I’m ready to leave…” It’s happened time after time. I lay awake at night thinking, it’s already been 6 months she should be mine. She always makes me smile and in these past 6 months I’ve been her shoulder to lean. I would love to be with her but, “…damn why she gotta be a fan.” Her name is Essence and she’s the reason for this song.

This start-off is too cute and so is Fizz in that pic, lol.

6 Months Earlier

“Me & Miracle are going to head to the mall for a little while” I told my older brother, Dontae’.
“Alright be back by 11” He told me.

I laughed a little bit. I think sometimes he forgets the Miracle is the minor in the household.

“Have you forgotten that I’m year younger than you?” I asked him trying to hold in my laugh.
“What’s your point again?” He said being funny but serious at the same time.

I just laughed. Dontae’ was overprotective of me, but he had reason to be. Dontae was the only family I had left. I was adopted when I was born by his parents. My biological mother was raped and I was the result of it. I bet you think I hate her right? I love her to death. Why? Because instead of taking a trip the abortion clinic, she gave me a chance to live.

Me and Dontae’s parents died in car accident when I when we were 17 and 18 years old. Luckily, Dontae’ was 18, because I would have went straight to a group home.

“You funny you know that right?” I told him laughing.
“Uncle Tae?!” My four year old daughter yelled as she entered the room.
“Hey! How’s my favorite girl doin’?” He said as scoped her up into his arms.

I’m so grateful for my brother I don’t think I would be able to raise Miracle on my own. I bet you’re wondering where her father is, right? Let’s just say history repeated itself only difference between me and my mom was I was in a relationship. He treated me great. We we’re together since I was 14. After being together for 4 years I had finally decided that I was going to give myself to him, but I wanted to surprise him. I decided that it was going to happen the night of his 18th birthday, which was 2 days after prom. I would of chose prom night but to me that was too typical. Little did I know it was going down on prom night and not at my own will. After prom one of our friends through a party at hotel and we had all booked rooms to stay in. I was tired so I went upstairs to my room to change in my night cloths and my brother wasn’t too far behind me with some girl he had excoursed to the prom. But Jason was still downstairs partying. I had changed into my night cloths and had fallen asleep waiting for Jason. He finally came upstairs around 4 am which was 2 hours later. I wasn’t upset though because tonight was his night. When he came in he began to kiss me and like any girlfriend would I kissed back. Once things got deeper and I told him I wasn’t ready he got upset and went on to rape me. The next day I told my brother. For days Jason couldn’t be found anywhere, but once my brother caught up with him he beat ‘em so bad that ended up going to jail for 3 months on an assault charge. To this day I don’t know what came over my brother that he beat him that bad. I guess it was the death of our parents 3 months before and then that happens.

But once I found out I was pregnant I remembered what my mother did for me and vowed to keep my child. Although my mom didn’t raise me. I love unconditionally because she knew it couldn’t raise me so she gave me to someone who could. See my mom did open adoption so I got cards from her every single holiday and letters all year long. She knew what I looked like and I knew what she looked like but I haven’t met her yet. I know I will one day though.

But once I informed Jason of my pregnancy automatically said it wasn’t his because the courts ruled again against me when I took to him to court for the rape charge. I was hurt at first but then I remembered what Larissa [my biological mother] “There’s the ones who have to live with it.” Just like my “father” is sitting in jail right now for what he did to Larissa. One day I will work up the nerve to see him but right now I can’t face.
Once Miracle was born I took her see Jason and still denied her and still does til this day. But the funny thing is when he does see her he goes “how’s daddy’s lil girl doin?” Yeah, we’ve bumped into him a few times since Miracle has gotten older. Believe me my daughter isn’t dumb deaf or stupid, when she sees him she won’t even talk to him or go to him. I tried to get her to give him a hug once because that is her father and she can’t change that but all she did was kick and scream. But it’s so funny how he denies her but doesn’t want her to know it and she knows it anyway. I’ve been through a lot huh? I bet if you ask me 4 years ago. I never thought my life would be like this…

Miracle and I pulled into the mall parking lot bumping to Unique’s “Wrote You A Song”…

“Mommy can we get ice cream before we go home?” Miracle asked before we even made it inside the mall.
“Yes we can, but you have to be good while you’re in the mall…okay?” I told her.
“Okay Mommy” She said happy as lil kid in a candy store.

We shopped around for about a hour and a half, I was about to take Miracle to get some ice cream when yelled a girls name and started running in her direction.

“ANIYA!” She yelled.

I walked fast behind her as kept running in the little girls directions. They were running towards each other like they hadn’t seen each other in years, it was so cute.

“Hey Miracle” She said as they hugged. “Dis my goddaddy” Aniya said proudly as if she was Goddaddy’s little girl.

That’s when I finally took at the guys’ face who was smiling at the way these two interacted. I’d recognize his smile from anywhere, her godfather was Lil Fizz.

“OoO I know who he is, Hi Mr. Fizz!” She smiling looking up at him.
“Hey little one” He said laughing.
“My mommy real big fan of yours. She know all ya song and be on ya space page thingy.” She told him.
“Oh really?” He said smiling and laughing at the way she worded her sentence. “Well, thank you for the support Mommy” He said smiling at me.
“My name is Essence and you welcome.” I said smiling back at him.
“That’s a pretty name” He said introducing himself.
“Thanks”
“Cuse me, Mommy and Mr. Fizz can Aniya come with us to get ice cream?” Miracle asked.
“Yeah, Goddaddy can I have ice cream with Miracle?” Aniya asked right behind her.
“If okay with Miracle’s mom” He told her.
“It’s fine with me”

From there went get the girls some ice cream. Me and Fizz sat and talked as the girls ate their ice cream and when they went to go play in the little play area. We didn’t talk about anything too heavy. Mainly about his album, sneakers, and clothing line he had coming out. I told him that I was going to school to be cosmologist. Once the girls were finished playing we all headed back towards the entrance to go home.

“So can I call you sometimes?” Fizz asked me.

I just smiled.

“I don’t know. Girls should I give him my number?” I said look at the two girls.
“Only if he promise he treat you nice!” They said in unison.
“Okay, but if you break promise we be very mad at you.” They both said seriously in their own way.

We both laughed because we knew they were serious and it was cute.

“I promise I’ll treat her nice” He said still laughing a little.

We exchanged numbers and said our goodbyes. Fizz grabbed Aniya’s hand and headed towards the door…

“Oh, and if you decide to call before I do…its Dreux when you do.” He told me as he turned around.

I just smiled as we went our separate ways.
